Inbound call centers do things like take orders. An example of that may be calling a 1-800 number that you see for a product you would like to have advertised during a TV commercial.

We are very excited to announce that our very own, Pat Vos has been selected as a recipient of the On Course Ambassadors of the Year Award for 2013. She was nominated by Kathy Magee of Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

I feel that I am very fortunate to work at Intercon Messaging. One of the many reasons is that there are so many people here that love to read!

Cheryl, Taryn, Gloria and I attended the 2014 NAEO (National Amtelco Equipment Owners) 30th Annual Conference earlier this month.

When the floods hit southern Alberta June 2013, my son sent a text “Sure glad our house is on a hill…and mom, how are we going to help?” I text back “You work and send money son; I will go to Calgary and help.”

In June 2013 the rains came, the rivers rose and kept rising. Based on my interpretation of what I heard on the news the headwaters of Cougar Creek, the Elbow River, the Sheep River, the Highwood River, and the Kananaskis River which all empty into the Bow River, were in the eye of the storm.

One day my girlfriend said “You know, I am not changing; I like myself.”

On Friday October 19th, as the awards ceremony unfolded at the CAM-X 48th Annual Trade Show and Convention in Victoria, I had many thoughts running through my mind.

WOW. There is something about this book that grabbed me and took hold. I think I’ve bought 20 copies so far and personally handed them to people and said, “ You gotta read this book!”

Alberta is the land of opportunity and being a county councilor from October 2007 to October 2010 certainly presented me many new opportunities.

One of those was the privilege of attending the 2008 Alberta Congress Board Conference. At the Jasper Park Lodge! One conference, and I was hooked.

Thank you to Bobby Ng! Last night in Edmonton we roasted Bobby Ng. Bobby immigrated to Canada in the 70’s with his young family. He left his celebrity life in the Philippines and came to Canada, ready to start over.

My girlfriend and I decided to offer entrepreneurship in Drayton Valley to our local school students. We printed flyers and mailed them to every student ‘s home that were between grades 9 and 12. Junior Achievement offers many financial literacy programs that volunteers teach in schools.

When I was a little girl, I was told that my imagination was the limit. As I grew up I began to believe that was fictional, thinking surely not everything you imagine can come true. What if you imagine flying? Well so did Orville and Wilbur Wright who flew the first powered airplane. What if you imagine walking on the moon? Turns out, that is what Neil Armstrong imagined.

The most important opinion in life is that of the person who is looking back at you in the mirror. The dreams and ideas you hold have the potential to come true. Usually the thing that prevents such desires to turn into reality is fear. Think of the last time you were afraid or nervous to do something.

For many of us positive thinking has become a way of life. For that we thank, in large part, Pat Vos. She has opened many doors to learning and personal growth for everyone within the company.

Cheryl and I just got back from the 2012 NAEO (National Amtelco Equipment Owners) 28th Annual Conference. As always, what a great experience! It never ceases to amaze me how helpful and willing to share knowledge the people in this industry are.

It is inevitable in life that we will be faced with challenges and choices. How we overcome and respond to them is what defines us and builds our character. The desired outcome of these choices and challenges is usually happiness or peace with in.

This is staff meeting week at Intercon Messaging. At our morning huddle on Monday we decided the best use of our two staff meetings was to help our people stop beating themselves up.

As we begin a new year I ask myself the question; “Are we on track?”
